Change of Status

Jonathan International School provides comprehensive support in processing your F-1 student visa application and maintaining compliance until your approval as an F-1 high school student.

Tuition Fees:

• Annual Tuition (Grades 9-12): $36,000 per academic year.

• Deposit Requirement: Upon submitting a Change of Status application, students must pay the first and last month's tuition deposits as proof of enrollment. These deposits are fully refundable if your application is denied. All other processing fees charged by USCIS are non-refundable.

Instructions for B-1/B-2 Visa Holders Changing to F-1 Status:

• Copy of Passport (biographical page and visa page)

• Copy of I-94 Arrival Record

• Completed School Enrollment Application

• Registration Fee: $150 (one-time)

• Form I-20 issued by Jonathan International School

• SEVIS I-901 Fee Receipt: $350 (one-time)

• Current Bank Statement showing available funds:

  • Minimum $50,000 for student

  • Additional $6,000 per dependent (spouse or child under 21)

  • If bank account is overseas, include translation to U.S. dollars.

  • If sponsored:

    • Sponsor’s signed financial support documentation

    • Sponsor’s identification documents

• Form I-539 Application to Change Status Fee: $370

• Biometric Services Fee: $85 per person (applicant and dependents)

Total Payment Required:

• Registration Fee: $150

• I-539 Change of Status Application: $370

• Biometric Fee: $85 (per individual)

• SEVIS I-901 Fee: $350

• Filing Service Fee: $500 (one-time)

• First Month Tuition Deposit: $3,000

• Last Month Tuition Deposit: $3,000

Total Initial Payment: $7,455 (+$85 biometric fee per dependent)

Letter Requirement:

• Applicants must submit a detailed letter explaining the reason for requesting a change of visa status from a B-1/B-2 visitor visa to an F-1 student visa within the U.S. rather than applying from their home country. This letter should clearly indicate your intention to return to your home country after completing your studies. Jonathan International School can assist you with drafting this letter.
